Some of the best things are free. We love spending time at the library, it’s dry, air conditioned, has bathroom facilities and there are many activities for the kids to do – both big and small.

Mackay Leisure Centre
With an early morning start, cafe with snacks and meals, tenpin bowling at Mackay Leisure Centre will pass an hour or two with your family.
With all equipment supplied (except socks, bring your own), pricing starts from $12/pp for the first game, and $8pp for additional games. There are cheaper rates for families of four. It’s best to book ahead, and if you’re booking with more than six people you’ll need another lane – the centre will try and get your group next to each other.

If you’re looking for a great place to wear the kids out, the huge play centre at Kidz Life is the answer.
With a cafe, aircon, ball pits and a super slide, Kidz Life is perfect for ages 1-12. Entry fees vary between ages and holidays. Oh bring socks!
Kidz Life is open most days, there are different days and hours depending if it is school holidays or not.

Charlies Cafe Mackay
Where there is a cafe with coffee and a playground it’s for us! Open 7 days, Charlies Cafe has amazing food from breakfasts to wraps, hot food and desserts. Even better there is a kids playroom too!
