Remembering our Whitsunday wedding in Airlie Beach

Wedding Venues Airlie Beach

2011 marks a decade since our Whitsunday wedding in Airlie Beach. Our love of the Coral Sea, glorious 25 deg winter days and travel paved the way for the best wedding in the Whitsundays.  Each year that passes, memories resurface and highlight the importance on knowing

I loved having a destination wedding. We decided on a Friday wedding in Airlie Beach and by doing this we were able to make a full weekend celebrating with family and friends. Everyone had to travel and we loved that most of our guests used this time to holiday as well.

To this day I still claim we had the best Whitsunday wedding dream team. From planner to photographer, celebrant to cake, dress to decorations.  Our dream team were so easy to work with, they solved all our pain points and we didn’t have an ounce of stress or cause to worry about.

As amazing as our day was, there were a few things I would have changed. I wish we did a first look. A “first look” back in 2011 was kind of a new *thing*. We didn’t do the traditional spending the night before apart and instead we woke up on our wedding day and enjoyed breakfast together. Looking back we should have done a private first look. It wasn’t until our dance that we really got to spend 1:1 time together, and then we were still centre of attention.

Hiring a second photographer: There are handful of (mobile) photos we were sent after our wedding in Airlie Beach. These gorgeous photos were of cocktail hour. Cocktail hour was at our reception venue overlooking the Whitsundays at sunset. The photographer in me can’t help but think what a second photographer could have captured doing our bridal portraits.

Our memory fades over time, and it is these photographs that last.  They will always be precious to me and I am so grateful to have make them a priority.
