Freedom Shores Resort is open offering boutique style accommodation and grounds to host bespoke weddings year round.
Best months to book?
We suggest booking between April and October due to the historically beautiful Whitsunday weather.
How many guests can your venue accommodate?
Freedom Shores and its extensive grounds can have the capacity to offer spaces for intimate weddings and elopements to grand weddings and events up to 400 guests. Freedom Shores wedding packages include exclusive use of our stunning resort. including boutique style accommodation, private beach and lawn area perfect for those who are seeking a more intimate setting for your nuptials or our main lawn to cater for those larger groups.
Do you cater for both ceremony and reception?
We offer both ceremony and reception facilities and can also cater for vow renewals, elopements and pre/post wedding celebrations.
One ceremony location or multiple?
Freedom Shores offers multiple ceremony locations including the Beach Shack private beach or lawn, nestled between tropical palms on the Freedom Shores Lawn, intimate nuptials are celebrated on the Shangri la Deck, a part of General MacArthur’s fleet during World War 2, which has been given pride of place at the entrance to the resort to name a few. The opportunities are endless.
One reception location or multiple?
Freedom Shores offers multiple reception locations from our oceanfront Beach Shack private lawn, the expansive palm fringed Freedom Shores Lawn and the beach side thatched Nakamal.
If it rains, do you have any indoor or tented backup locations available?
We are pleased and grateful to have the opportunity to offer options for both ceremony and Reception wet weather options. ceremonies can be held under the ocean facing entrance portico of the resort with stunning views over the property and out onto the bay ahead. Our beachfront thatched Nakamal is a perfect wet weather option for a reception.
Do you have a venue/wedding coordinator?
Euphoric Event Producers assist all couples at Freedom Shores to create truly beautiful and unique weddings. Euphoric Event Producers will take the time to listen carefully to what’s important to you and bring your dream to reality.
Do you have preferred suppliers?
Freedom Shores and Euphoric Event Producers do offer a recommended supplier list to all our couples to offer guidance and ensure they have the wedding of their dreams.
Can couples bring in their own suppliers?
Our couples are welcome to use an external supplier if they wish. All suppliers must be approved prior to booking.
Are children welcome?
Yes, of course.
Children are most certainly welcome at Freedom Shores and any wedding or event held at the property. Children’s menus and childcare can be arranged upon request also allowing all guests the ability to relax and unwind.
Does your venue include bridal and guest accommodation?
Freedom Shores is a luxury unique accommodation venue featuring 10 Queen boat bungalows, 3 luxury King suites and our Bridal Suite, The Beach Shack. With a large private lounge, swimming pool and lush tranquil gardens you will feel like you are on your own private island whilst still being only 5 minutes from Airlie Beach.
How far in advance should couples be booking?
As the Whitsundays is a hot spot for destination weddings and Freedom Shores being an operational resort; we suggest booking at least 12 months in advance to secure your preferred date and vendors.
Do you have Open Day Tours of the venue?
Euphoric Event Producers offer venue tours by appointment only Tuesday to Friday, depending on availability.
What made you decide to open a wedding venue (what’s your story?)
The story of Freedom Shores began when the owners fell in love with a beautiful hidden valley on the outskirts of Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays Region, Queensland. They bought the valley with the vision of sharing its unique vista with others.
The nautical focus for the property now called Freedom Shores originated when the business acquired the old Shute Harbour jetty poles. The jetty was being refurbished and these poles had character and beauty worthy of being saved. The timber inspired an entire resort built around reclaimed boats to create a truly special accommodation right on the water at Woodwark.
The Freedom Shores team began saving old boats destined for destruction and recommissioning them as nautical interest points throughout the grounds.
The piece de resistance is the “Shangri La”, a part of General MacArthur’s fleet during World War 2, which has been given pride of place at the entrance to the resort.
Some of the palm trees within the grounds came from the film set of the movie “The Pirates of the Caribbean”. The trees were used on set when filming in the Whitsundays, but had no future use past that event, so once again the Freedom Shores vision scooped up these lovely specimens and planted them within the hidden valley.
Freedom Shores was originally named after The Doors song, Waiting for the Sun -Standing there on freedom’s shore- lyric.
How many years have you been a wedding venue?
Freedom Shores has hosted beautiful Whitsunday weddings since 2018.
